There's something better than happiness!

"There's something better than happiness, it is called joy" - Pastor Bayo
Hold on, cop that, did you read that well? If you didn't, you might want to go back and read again.
The aim of this post is not to differentiate between joy and happiness - that's your own homework. In fact, that was the one thing I picked up from church yesterday and it struck me tight.

I don't know what I was doing in that first picture ohhh...

Bus chronicles: the boy on the bus (Part 2)

I shared the first part of this story last month here.

... I smiled for the first time since I woke up that morning.
My Asian friend who happened to come from, I think  Singapore had recognized the book I was studying and decided to start up a convo with me cos he had previously taken the course. He introduced himself as Bryan and then we started a convo

Happy New month or nah? Let's catch up

I finally get to put up a blog post.. It's been a while, last time I put up a post "was about a week ago"..

How are you all doing?
Happy New month everyone. I know it's late, but better late than never; that's what they say right?

Well let me explain why I haven't put up a post - wait, I think you already know the answer - I've been sooo busy..
Remember in this post, I said I was looking for an apartment, well I got one and I was able to move out during the weekend. If you know what it means to move mid-semester during fall season, you'll understand better.
Not only that, I had two mega midterms I had to prepare for; undergrad life ain't easy. It's just today that I had the opportunity to breathe, and breathe I did.

So that's what I've been up to lately (ohhh, did I forget taking mirror selfies?).

Hello buddies,
How are you all doing? How was your weekend? Hope fine?

Happy new week everyone. In the spirit of the new week, I present to you  an analogy.. Think and ponder on it.

One analogy " A fork is the perfect cutlery when you are devouring a delicious plate of spaghetti, but it is practically useless when drinking a cup of tea. Does this mean that the fork is useless? Absolutely not."

What's the point? We are unique and special in the eyes of God, made for entirely different purposes. That you aren't doing what Mr A is using doesn't mean you are useless, it might mean that that isn't your calling?
Also, that you aren't where you want to be doesn't mean you are useless, it might just be that you aren't prepared. Don't try to hurry up ahead of God, it's just like being the only one with a teaspoon to eat a plate of food while others are with ridiculously large spoons. Equip yourself and bounce back. Those are what delays are for. You grab?
You are useful, never let anyone tell you otherwise.

On another note, here's what I wore to church yesterday, you like? (oots= outfit of the Sunday)

In loving memory: of when we were friends

Hello my people, How are you all?
Hope life is treating you fine?
Thank God it's Friday, my favorite day of the week..

So about today's post, I was wondering what to put up on the blog; I wanted to do a feature but I've not gotten all I need for it. So I don't know what took me to my Facebook page and I stumbled on this update I shared two years ago. It reads

"Time flies, things change, distance builds up, and somehow, best friends become mere acquaintances"

That sucks right? I guess I must have had a really bad day then.

Tuesday, 21 October 2014

Happy Tuesday lovely people.
How are you all doing? How was your weekend like?

So today, I want to share something with you.
I read this off somewhere but I can't really remember where. It says

"once you've accepted your flaws, no one can use them against you"

I tell you guys, no truer words have been said. We are all humans and no one is perfect; we have flaws and imperfections which makes us unique and special. Of course if you were perfect, God would have taken you up like Enoch.

I'm not talking about imperfections like a bad character; of course you'd have to change that if you are going somewhere in life.

I'm talking about accepting the fact that your big head is just awesome and means you have more brains, and your fat lips means you can eat more food, or your big eyes means you can see more things, or your small hands means you are small and adorable right?
No one is perfect. Flaws make us flawless. Embrace your flaws. No one can use it against you then.
Rant over.

What I'm listening to right now
I know I'm so late on this one, but this is my jam for the week. It is "murda" by Seyi Shay ft Patoranking & Shaydee.
And did I mention that this Patoranking guy is so cute? Lols. Watch the video here

That would be all for now.
Do have a lovely week guys.
Hugs and kisses. Xoxo.

Bus chronicles :The boy on the bus (Part 1)

Ermm, my good people, how are you all?
How was your week? Thank God it's another Friday ohhh..

See what I feel like eating right now. I will love you forever if you just prepare this for me right now.

So onto today's gist.
Ermm, so yesterday morning, I had a midterm so I had to be in school on time.
It was very early in the morning so I had to make my cup of coffee hot chocolate to kick start my metabolism and feel like the human being I've not been feeling lately.
In the process of making my chocolate drink - coffee shop style with whipped cream and all, I missed the bus in front of my house. So I had to walk down a few blocks to catch the other bus.

I ended up running to catch the bus because it was almost leaving while I was just crossing the road.
While I was still trying to catch my breath from the marathon I just ran and still trying to find a seat, the bus decided to rotate round a bend. To say I lost my balance is an understatement (try standing unsupported in a bus and let it rotate 180°, you'll understand better). I almost bumped into this Asian boy in front of me. I sat down next to him and silently said a prayer, thanking God that my chocolate drink didn't spill all over him. I then brought out my note to refresh my memory in preparation for my midterm. Out of the blues, the boy turned to me and spoke. I smiled for the first time since I woke up that morning.

To be continued...
What do you think he said to me?

PS: I wanted to write the full story but it would be too long so I decided to cut it in half. Who likes long blog posts anyway? Plus, I like the suspense I'm creating (grins evily)!

So how will you be spending your weekend? I'll try and relax because this past week was so stressful and tiring.
Remain awesome.
Hugs and kisses. Xoxo!

Ten thousand reasons

Happy Canadian thanksgiving day everyone.

This year has really been a great one and we have so many things to be grateful for. If not for anything, the fact that you are reading this post means that you are alive; once there is life there is hope and "a living dog is better than a dead lion"

In the spirit of thanksgiving, I want to specially thank God for enabling me find my student id and u-pass(transit pass) that I misplaced last Friday (only SFU students would know the importance of those two items). You see, when I went to see the movie on Friday night, I dropped those items at the box office of the cinema in the biggest mall in British Columbia (duh, my testimony must be magnified), you can imagine how paranoid I was when I discovered those items where missing. I tried contacting them and going back to the mall but couldn't find anything. So I dropped my number (special shout out to the my lovely Miss Dinah for her awesome help) and left.

By Saturday night, I got a call from the mall people ohh, telling me they found the items (with my u-pass intact). Praise the Lord!
Lols. So make sure you find even just a reason to thank God today while you eat your beautifully prepared turkey. Because as for me, I have ten thousand reasons to praise the Lord. Talking about turkey, here's what I'm having for thanksgiving. Come and join me.

Class, correct or not?

Happy Saturday people!
How are you doing? How was your week?
This past week was graduation week in my school and I knew a bunch of the people graduating so I went to congratulate them and take pictures. 4 years of university is not moin-moin. So congratulations once again to all that graduated and good luck in all your future endeavors.

Congrats Belema, Tekena, Chidom, Amarachi & Precious

So about my Friday night, this semester seems to be going on so fast and I haven't had a break in a long time so I decided to go see a movie since I have thanksgiving break on Monday and I'll be studying for my midterm (argh, I must graduate my own ohh). So I went and I saw this movie " Alexander and the terrible horrible no good very bad day ". It is a very funny movie and I should do a review of the movie sometime later, what do you think? The Friday night didn't end well sha (sobs). I will gist you people later.

So during the week, a friend was telling me about the convo between a student and a physiology instructor that occurred in her class and I decided to share it because it is very funny. It went like this.
Instructor: fair boy at the back, are you in my class..
Student: Yes
Instructor: are you sure you're taking this class and you're in Nursing department
Student: Yes
Instructor: I had to ask because handsome boys are not in Nursing but engineering..
(Class laughs)
Instructor: why are you students laughing at me?
Class: continued laughing
Instructor: class correct or not
Class: correct ...
Ermm, I found this very hilarious and as someone who was once in nursing school, I can certify that it is 100% correct ohhh. There are no fine guys in nursing department ohhh, and any one that manage and fine is the darling of the class.
Do you agree or disagree people?
Ermm, Monday, October 13th is Canadian thanksgiving day. What will you be doing if you are in Canada?
Have a lovely weekend guys. Stay positive
Hugs and kisses. Xoxo

The friendship tag : My honest opinion

Hey Guys,
Happy New Week.
How was your weekend? Hope it was fine?
Mine was pretty much good.
Ermmm, I took some pictures of the hair(not super clear though).

I tried right?

We were laughing because that white man there didn't stop looking into my phone and photo-bombing my selfies. lols. He appeared practically in all of them.

So about this post, I really want to talk about it because friendship means a lot to me; that's probably why I don't have lots of them. There are some funny tags that most of you must have heard that I really want to share. So lets roll.

  1.  If you are Nigerian or African, your parents must have said this to you at one time or the other "Don't let your friends choose you, choose your friends".I always thought this was funny because what about the people you want to choose? Haven't their parents already told them not to let people choose them?
  2. "If you don't "add" anything to my life, I can't be your friend". I always thought this was selfish, were you making friends to use them? so you end up having providers as friends; Nkechi borrows me clothes, John gives me food, Nkem's father is wealthy so I have to roll with the big guys etc.
  3. I can't even remember anymore. I can vouch that I had a long list of them, Where are these tags when you need them?
I personally think friendship should be based on common grounds such as companionship, loyalty and positivity. I think you attract people of your kind and you just click; I've made most of my best friends when I wasn't even looking or trying. And don't worry about bad friends, you can't attract what you're not (or so I think, I'm right abi?)

That's my opinion ohhh. So what do you think? What tags have you heard about friendship? You can share them below!

What I'm listening to right now!
This song is super good. It is called Great Nation and it is by Timi Dakolo : seriously this guy sings so good but I don't know why he is so underated in  :(. I stumbled upon the song on his instagram page. Listen and enjoy. We are all we have!

I hope you have a lovely week ahead.
Hugs and kisses. Xoxo.

Cheers to the frigging weekend

Hey lovely people,
How are you all?
How was your week guys? How are you going to spend your weekend?
As for me, this week was so hectic for me ohhh and I'm so happy I'm finally able to make a post. . I can't just wait for the holidays to come. I spent my week commuting to and from school. I had loads of midterms and school work; most students can relate. Good luck to everyone writing midterms and don't forget to get breaks in between studies.

So for my weekend, I started off by finally fixing my hair by myself. (clap for me). It took me approximately 5 hours. Dinah (my housemate) says the hair is fine, so I must have really done a good job. I'll see if I can post pictures of the hair later.

I'm also house hunting at the moment. I need to move out of where I'm staying by this month's end. So for those of you that are being led in your hearts, you can help me look for a student-affordable 2-bedroom apartment, suitable for 2 very gorgeous looking girls (I really mean that last part, Lols.). You can send me links on the comments.
First Sundays of every month is usually thanksgiving service. This Sunday is October thanksgiving so I'll be in church and you are all invited. That reminds me, uhmm, Christmas is almost here ohhh, and uhnmm, start making plans. Include me in yours ohhh. I can tell you secretly what to buy for me, (don't worry, I'll still pull the surprise look and pretend that I didn't know about the gift).

Weekend Puzzle
Biko, whose child is this?
If you are on either Facebook or Instagram, you must have met him. Whose child is he biko?

Quote of the weekend! ... And I wanna say thank you in case I don't thank you enough... (Beyonce in dance for you)
Y'all awesome.
Stay safe and have a lovely weekend.
Ps: You guys that drop comments: you're the real mvp. Keep reading and commenting.
Hugs and kisses. Xoxo!.

N/b: I'm really busy right now so I haven't set up my blog as much I want. I'll do that during the holidays (so expect some changes).  But if you have any ideas or suggestions, or anything in general, you can contact me by mail at

But still, like air, I rise

When I read on Bella naija sometime in August that the Ebola outbreak had gotten to Nigeria, I was more than petrified. That day, I knew that my subconscious was Catholic because I am sure I did the sign of the cross like 10 times on hearing the news.
Many things in Nigeria were screaming wrong already. In Kevin Hart's voice, "we wasn't ready" , and in my darling Olympic Nigerian boy's voice, "we never hexpererit". Come on, there was Boko Haram, the missing girls, corruption, poverty, and you can name it. I had concluded, Nigeria would not survive it.
My first thoughts went to my family. All my family, both nuclear and extended stay in Nigeria. How would they be safe? Thinking about that alone, I said a mental prayer, "Nigeria, you just have to survive this".
I started praying seriously. My dear, I'm sure most of you even did the same. And each day, I'll follow the news on Bella naija and see how far we are going.

To cut the long story short, thanks to national heroes such as the Late Adadevoh and other medical team and the government, Nigeria contained Ebola. Compared to other countries affected, we did it!
Why am I writing this?
Because I truly believe in Nigeria. One day, boko haram and corruption will be no more and I will proudly blog again and say "we did it". One day!
Happy 54th independence day Nigeria, Giant of Africa. I'm proud to be a Nigerian.
I'll just conclude with some lines from the famous poem by Maya Angelou..
"You may write me down in history
You may trod me in the very dirt...
But still, like dust, I'll rise
Out of the huts of history's shame,
Up from a past that's rooted in pain,
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear,
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear,
But still, like air, I'll rise"- Maya Angelou
Still we rise!
On another note, Happy New Month Guys.
Hugs and kisses. Xoxo

Relationships, they are all that matters right? Uhmm, right!

Wakey wakey! It's Monday again. The weekend just went as quickly as it came!
How did you spend your weekend?
Mine was very uneventful, so nothing much to share except you wanna hear about school which of course would be very boring.
toilet selfies: what I'll probably be doing in between classes and studying today

Anyway, this Monday morning, I'll start off with what I learnt in church two Sundays ago! It was Youth Sunday and our Pastor talked about a very interesting topic and I decided to share with you guys. I naturally have listening ears when it comes to relationship talks so I listened and took notes.

Falling feet?

Happy Thursday Everyone!
How's your week been so far?
Well, today's post is inspired by my mood. I planned to post something funny oh, believe me, but my mood has been tampered with, by the workload before me after I finished my laboratory work this morning.
Today, I'm going to share a scripture that keeps me going; I have so many of them. This is the one that came to my mind today after my lab; the course load is so much and it is really overwhelming.    It is gotten from Jude vs 24, and I looked for the amplified Bible so that it can be explained very well..
source: The Bible Gateway
This scripture reminds us that God is able and really wants to keep us from falling. And when He says falling, He means in every aspect of our lives - academics, spiritual and otherwise.
So it is with this newly invigorated resolution that I get up, dust my feet and carry on with my course work.
Hope you have a blessed day.
Hugs and Kisses. Xoxo.

Breathe on me; Just kidding, don't even dare!

Ehmm, my people! How are you all doing?
Hope you are all good. Today is Wednesday ohh, and before you know it, the week is over. This week is looking like a great week for me, and if it continues, I'll tell you people why it is great on Friday.
Ehmm, for my lovely readers in Naija, biko you people should not vex for me concerning yesterday's post. I've even forgotten that in Naija, it is only rainy season and harmattan season. So some of you might not understand what I meant. To makes matters simple, Summer = semi-harmattan season, Fall/Autumn and maybe Spring = rainy season, and uhmm, winter, well winter = Jos weather raised to power hundred! Shebi you understand now? You see, I'm so caring.
See the leaves changing color like I explained yesterday. I took this pic last fall. Beautiful right?

So about today's post ohh, it was inspired by my experience last summer and because this is Fall and it would be very much applicable, I decided to narrate it.
You see, last summer, I went to school one day, and I sat in my normal position in the 3rd row at front of the class (it's not like I'm one geek or serious student ohh, If I seat any farther, I won't see anything). As I was busy trying to concentrate and listen to what my lovely instructor was saying, my nose was heavily assaulted by some odor that can't be explained here, it can only be experienced for you to grasp the magnitude of the assault. I ignored the odour ohh, and tried to refocus, because the odour just took me about 2 years back and I started thinking about my life. Just as God saved me and I picked up my pen to continue, I was taken aback and my nose was severely assaulted again. I thought to myself, what have I done to deserve this?
As a science student, I tried to observe my surroundings. I noticed that the correlation between this odour time bomb, and the frequency with which the boy seating at my back opened his mouth to talk is 1. For those of you who don't understand maths, this simply means that, the odor only came out once and only when the boy opened his mouth. And my darling boy decide to seat directly at my back and not only that, but he choose that moment to engage in a conversation with his friends.
My dear, the boy kept on opening his mouth at a rate of 10times per second. Do I need to explain to you that lectures for me that day was totally ruined? You can testify with me that if not for God, I won't be here writing this post.
What is my point? We are in fall season. People won't go outside to receive fresh air because it is raining. We are most of the time stuck with each other in closed rooms. Biko, please, a bit of hygiene this season won't hurt. Try to take care of yourself, brush your teeth, have your bath, buy body sprays. Mints and chewing gums aren't that expensive. Do not be the topic of someone Else's blog post. And if you deceide not to do any, well, I won't bug you but don't even dare talk to me! Affliction must not return a second time!
A blog post is enough for the wise (now that line was genius, hehehe)
Had worse experiences? Feel free to comment.
Keep being awesome.
Hugs and kisses. Xoxo

let it fall!

Hey everyone!
How are you all?
I'm so excited  that I am finally able to put together this post. I've been soooo busy. This semester is running so fast; even Usain Bolt got nothing on it. I had a midterm today and I had to prepare over the weekend, that's why I couldn't post.
So back to the present.
About today's post, well, most of you guys in this part of the world know what's happening today 23rd September.
In case you have forgotten, let me remind you. Today is the first day of Fall/Autumn. I'm so excited when the weather and seasons change because it reminds us still of God's promise.
Genesis 8:22 and Jeremiah 5:24

Fall happens to be my favorite Canadian weather because I love when it rains; Its not too hot like the Summer and Its not as Icy as the Winter. Its just cool and perfect.
Fall is simply awesome, the leaves begin to turn yellow, then red,(shebi I got the order?) before it fall offs and it's so beautiful. The air is so cool. The atmosphere is so serene, and I feel so relaxed. And most of all, I just wish I wasn't going anywhere but rather staying home to enjoy the weather.
Yay! I'm finally becoming Canadian. Just imagine how I am talking about the weather.
Anyway, this is to officially welcome you to Fall!
I'm going to miss the summer though, and so I've included some of my favorite moments from this past summer. :)

So till the summer comes your way next year, LET IT RAIN!!!
What do you Love hate about the Fall?  Comment below!
Have a lovely week.
Hugs and kisses. Xoxo.

Biko, Just be nice!

Happy Saturday everyone!

How’s your weekend going? Hope fine?
As for me, I think mine is going fine. Like I told ya’ll yesterday, I went for a birthday party (Happy birthday Lawretta), and I really enjoyed myself. It’s been a long time since I let go  (grins). That’s why this post is late ohh; cos I had to catch up on sleep.

Source: @dinahhhhhhhh Twitter

Anyway, today’s post is inspired by this discussion I was having with my housemate yesternite when we returned from the party. I don’t know why some guys won’t simply be nice to a girl just because she isn’t their girlfriend. Guys, biko, being  not nice, is actually not nice. It doesn’t cost a thing to be nice or helpful because, seriously though, it’s the little things you do for people that counts. You might not know just how much your kindness will go because trust me, we all need each other in one way or the other.

Okay: Rant over.
Do make sure you keep being awesome.
Hugs and kisses. Xoxo.

Hey dearies,
How are you all doing? Hope you're good?
Well, it's another Friday! Yay! Great news right?
How are you going to spend your weekend? You can share it with me.

By the way, that reminds me, I went for a photo shoot today ohhh. The photo shoot is for the college I attended. Oya, you guys should pray the pictures come out well. Who knows, I'll then establish my modelling profile and before you know, you'll see me on the cover of Vogue (Grins).
No need to remind me jor, I can dream for Africa and the entire universe.
Before I round up ohh, I was thinking,
You know, I should have a name for you lovely people that read my blog, what do you think? It's common practice; Linda Ikeji- Libers, Bella naija- Bellanaijarans,
Berry Dakara- Dakara darlings etcetera etcetera...
So I was thinking
Betty's blog readers can be called :
1. Borednomore-ers,
2. Betty's battalion
3. Bored kings and queens
4. Betty's brouhaha's
Lols... I suck with names right?
Oya I know you guys have awesome suggestions so keep them rolling in the comments section...

so What if........

Hey Guys,
How are you doing? So sorry I couldn't put up a post yesterday; I was sooooooooo busy (you people sef cannot ask of me, it is bad ohh)..

Anyway, did you people hear that Linda Ikeji bought herself a new Range Rover 2014. Check it out here. For those of you who don't know who she is, well she is a top Nigerian blogger ohh and I respect her hustle very much. She even has like 2 other cars and a very big house.

You people may be wondering, what exactly is your point?
Well, (clears throat)
You know when I started this blog I wanted to relieve my boredom! That is clearly working ohhh..
But how about you read something like this
Don't you believe?

"Popular lifestyle blogger, Betty Chinda acquires new airplane and private jet "
(sighs)! I can dream for Africa ohhh..
Well, I know with God all things are possible.. You people should just keep reading and commenting and giving my blog popularity; who knows, I may finally buy a private jet ohhhh (grins!)

That reminds me ohhh, I lost my phone(My darling HTC one) on Tuesday ohh in my school's library.
But one kind guy(God bless His soul) picked it up and sent it to the front desk. Thank God the panic attack I was already having did not escalate into a heart attack.
Careless much right?

That's the way it is

Hello lovelies, how are you doing?
How’s your Tuesday going?
As for me, I’m just busy trying to shuffle between school work, because that’s what I’m supposed to do. I'm a
student of course. School just resumed couple of weeks ago and it’s just as if the semester has been running all year long.

Here's a picture of sunset I took last fall. Beautiful right?
Well, today’s post is inspired by my journey to and from school as a commuter. For one year, I lived in school, but now, I stay off campus and then I have to take the bus to school.
Overtime commuting, I found out that when I wake up early and prepare,  everything just goes on smooth; the bus ride is smooth, the driver is friendly, and I get to school on time and everyone is happy.
However, on a typical day when I wake up late,  My day typically goes this way
1.      The clothes I planned to wear doesn’t look fine as it did the night before, but well, who cares? I put it on like that.
2.      I manage to dress up early, but then my key decides to hide in only God knows where and then I have to find it. Meanwhile, I have to walk 5mins to the bus stop and catch the next bus if I want to get to school only 5mins late.
3.      I finally find the key in my jean pocket of the previous day, and then I start walking running to the bus.
4.      The bus does what it knows how to do best,; waltz past me just as I am about getting to the bus stop.
5.      The next bus that’s supposed to come in 15mis comes in 16mins. (Duh, when you are already late, that extra minute counts).
6.      I end up sitting in the bus, or standing as the case may be, and I start the ride to school.
7.      Then the annoying part is that, everyone lives at every stop, so as you can imagine, the ride is very long.
8.      The driver is extra slow. When it get this unique stop, they decide to switch drivers, and the drivers end up talking for like 3mins. Then the new driver takes like 4mins to get settled in. Then we continue.
9.      As usual, new driver is super slow, and people continue to live on every stop. (mind you, I’m already like 10mins late to school)
10.   And when the bus almost gets to school, and you think that maybe, just maybe, there will be a little sunlight after this rain called my bus ride, the bus decides to develop mechanical fault.
11.   We either walk down to school, or wait for the next bus.
12.   And then I walk down to school; who are you kidding? I wait for the next bus jor!
13.   So I get to school, already 20mins late, and then end up sitting at the back, and then can’t see anything in front.

Okay, obviously, you would have offended some unseen powers in your village for all of that to happen to you at once.. All of these situations have never happened to me all at once; but most times its usually a combination of at least 3 or 4 of the major events listed above.
So my question as I round up is “why is it that when I’m early, then I get earlier; but when I’m late, boy, I obviously can’t get later? Obviously, the answer is inspired by Celine Dion's all time song "that's the way it is".

Ever experienced this before? Feel free to comment.
Hope you continue being awesome.

Hugs and kisses. Xoxo.
